Restaurant ordering software in Egypt: what fits Cairo?
Your kitchen needs a readable ticket, and your cashier needs to know which delivery orders still owe cash. Seeing an Arabic interface in a demo does not tell you whether either will work during service.

A Cairo restaurant needs Arabic kitchen printing, cash-aware ordering and confirmed local delivery integrations. Nexara is a restaurant order and operations platform built in Amman, Jordan, for the Arabic-speaking Middle East. It sits beside the till. Live deployments are in Jordan today; browser access and a Windows print agent work elsewhere, with partner activation checked per market.
What belongs beside your restaurant POS in Egypt?
A search for restaurant POS Egypt can mix two different buying decisions. One is how you take payment and issue the required sales documents. The other is how an order reaches the right kitchen printer without someone copying it from a tablet. If missed tickets are the problem, test order intake and printing before discussing a till replacement.
Nexara brings supported channels into one live queue per branch, including phone orders, the restaurant's website and table QR orders. Talabat and Careem intake also feed that queue where activated. It is not a POS or cash register, and using it alongside your existing till does not mean a connector to that till is included.
| Your requirement | Nexara today | What to verify for Cairo |
|---|---|---|
| Arabic orders and kitchen tickets | Arabic and English dashboard, storefront and thermal printing | Your menu on your actual printer |
| Cash delivery and pickup orders | Cash choices at storefront checkout | Your handover and end-of-day cash procedure |
| Talabat order intake | Connection through Talabat's own integration, with outlet and item mapping | Egypt activation and partner approval |
| Egyptian fiscal documents | Arabic receipt printing is supported; Egyptian tax compliance is not established | Requirements with your accountant and fiscal software provider |
Ask your accountant whether the sales documents meet Egyptian Tax Authority requirements. An Arabic receipt alone does not prove e-receipt or e-invoice compatibility. The Nexara order and operations features describe the operational scope, not a replacement for that compliance check.
How should cash-on-delivery orders work?
For a cash-heavy Cairo delivery business, test cash on delivery before launch. Do not assume customers will switch to prepaid cards because a new ordering page prefers them. Use your restaurant's payment records to decide which checkout methods need the most testing, rather than relying on an unsupported national cash-payment percentage.
Nexara's storefront supports cash on delivery or pickup, and pay at the counter for dine-in. Online card payments use HyperPay when enabled for the company. That capability does not establish Egyptian merchant eligibility or local settlement arrangements. Those need confirmation before card checkout becomes part of your launch plan.
- Place a cash delivery test order. Check that the address and payment choice remain clear through preparation and handover.
- Have the person collecting the money explain where they record it. Keep order delivery status separate from your evidence of cash received.
- Cancel a test order and inspect its history. Agree who checks that cancelled food is not treated as collectible cash.
- At close, compare the day's records with the physical cash using a documented counting procedure.
Nexara includes End of Day and Cashier Reconciliation reports. These support review; they are not a promise of automatic matching against courier settlements. A delivered order and money handed back to the cashier are different events. Assign someone to count the cash and investigate any difference.
Does Talabat POS integration work in Egypt?
Talabat, formerly Otlob in Egypt, belongs on a Cairo restaurant's integration checklist. But the search phrase Talabat POS integration Egypt does not prove that a particular software connection is approved for your outlet. Ask whether your specific outlet can be activated and what approval is still needed.
Nexara's Talabat integration receives orders and inbound cancellations, sends status updates, and supports catalogue exchange with item and outlet mapping. Item mapping connects the partner's item identifier to the correct menu item. If that mapping is wrong, a readable ticket can still contain the wrong product.
Nexara also has Careem food-order intake and a separate Careem Express dispatch integration. Do not treat Careem's presence in Egypt as proof that either restaurant service is available to your address or merchant account. Food marketplace intake and booking a courier for your own order are different services.
Both Talabat and Careem connections use the partners' own integrations, and activation is per market and subject to partner approval. Nexara's live deployments are in Jordan today. For Cairo, require confirmation of the specific service and outlet before setting a cutover date.
Use the Talabat and Careem order intake details to define a test. Send an incoming order with modifiers and check the status update. Then test a cancellation. Keep your existing intake method available until the approved connection passes.
Will Egyptian menu wording print correctly in Arabic?
Arabic support has two parts: the words customers recognise and the way letters reach paper. For Egyptian readers, a familiar item name such as طعمية may be clearer than a term chosen for another market. Use your customers' vocabulary for dish names and plain Modern Standard Arabic where it makes instructions easier to understand.
Nexara supports Arabic and English in the dashboard and storefront. Its menu catalogue includes modifiers and modifier groups, so your test should include actual extras and omissions, not only dish names. It does not offer an Egyptian-dialect translation service today. Have someone who knows your menu review the wording.
For printing, the agent reshapes Arabic text and renders it as bitmap images before sending it to a standard ESC/POS thermal printer over USB or network. This avoids depending on the printer's built-in Arabic fonts. Arabic and English can appear on the same ticket, with categories routed to their assigned printers.
Print a long item name with an Arabic modifier and an English brand name on the receipt width you actually use. Inspect letter joining and line breaks. The guide to Arabic thermal receipt printing explains why a correct browser preview alone is not enough.
What happens when the connection or printer fails?
Nexara runs in the cloud. Staff open the order board in a browser, while a separate Windows desktop print agent handles the branch's printers. It can run outside Jordan, but that technical reach is not evidence of a completed Egyptian deployment.
The browser board needs internet access. If the printer PC loses its connection, orders can still arrive in the cloud queue, and staff can view them from a connected browser on another device. Pending print jobs wait for the agent to reconnect; the agent also has its own local print queue.
If the whole branch loses internet, cloud order intake continues, but the branch needs a connection to view new orders and receive their print jobs. Test a phone hotspot as backup for the browser device and printer PC. Reconnecting only the browser does not reconnect the print agent. There is no offline order board or offline cash register.
If a printer stops responding, tickets wait in a queue rather than disappearing. Categories can be rerouted from the dashboard, with automatic failover where a backup printer is configured. The agent records printed job identifiers to prevent a redelivered job from becoming another kitchen ticket.
Test these failures separately before service: disconnect the printer PC, restore it, then switch off a printer with a ticket waiting. Watch what the team must do. Nexara uses printed kitchen tickets today, not kitchen display screens.
What needs confirming before a Cairo launch?
Before a Cairo launch, test Egyptian phone-number verification and address handling with real inputs. Review customer-facing currency and tax settings. Nexara's live deployments are in Jordan today; these checks are not a claim that Egypt-specific onboarding or fiscal compliance has already been verified.
Nexara has a free plan plus paid plans per branch in JOD, with current rates on request. Free and Starter include no printers; Growth includes 1, and Pro allows unlimited printers. The call center is a Pro feature. A free storefront test therefore does not demonstrate the whole phone-to-kitchen workflow.
Nexara takes no commission on orders through your own website, installable app or call center. Talabat and Careem keep their own commissions on orders they bring. Payment processing and delivery charges remain separate, so commission-free ordering does not mean cost-free fulfilment.
Issa Al-Dalu, Nexara's founder in Amman, answers support himself. Support is available through WhatsApp and email during Amman hours, in Arabic and English. Before committing, document what is available now and what still depends on partner approval. Do not retire working equipment because a requested connection is merely possible.
What to remember
- Nexara is built in Amman, Jordan, and its live deployments are in Jordan today.
- Arabic printing and cash checkout are supported; Egyptian fiscal compliance is not established.
- Talabat and Careem activation must be checked for your market and outlet.
- The browser board needs internet access. Cloud orders continue if the printer PC disconnects, and pending print jobs catch up after the agent reconnects.
- Next step: message Nexara through the WhatsApp link below with your Cairo location and required channels for an Egypt activation check. Nexara's website is nexaratech.io.
Questions people ask

Is Nexara a restaurant POS for Egypt?
No. Nexara handles order intake and restaurant operations, including kitchen printing; it is not a cash register and does not claim to replace your Egyptian fiscal system.
Can I connect my Egyptian Talabat account?
Nexara connects to Talabat through Talabat's own integration, but activation is per market and subject to partner approval. Confirm your Egyptian outlet before relying on it during service.
Does Nexara support Careem food delivery in Egypt?
