Restaurant ordering in Saudi Arabia: where Nexara fits

An Arabic menu in a sales demo tells you little about what happens when a kitchen ticket fails. In Saudi Arabia, you also need to separate the software that handles orders from the system responsible for compliant invoices.

Arabic ordering: where Nexara fits

Nexara provides Arabic kitchen printing, commission-free own-channel ordering, call-center caller history, multi-branch menus and reports, and Arabic/English support: a restaurant order and operations platform built in Amman for the Arabic-speaking Middle East. Live deployments are in Jordan; Saudi invoicing and aggregators are unsupported; Talabat/Careem activation is market-dependent. Start on WhatsApp with the founder.

Which options belong on a Saudi restaurant shortlist?

Foodics and Marn are Saudi home-market providers of point-of-sale software. Nexara handles incoming orders and branch operations beside the till. The table below is a shortlist checklist, rather than a feature-by-feature comparison: it identifies which buying conversation to start and what each supplier should demonstrate.

Start with the work you need the supplier to own. A restaurant replacing its Saudi billing system has a different buying problem from one that already has billing covered but keeps retyping phone orders. Write down the gap before booking demonstrations.

For a closer look at the different roles, read the Nexara and Foodics comparison. Give each supplier the same sample order and cancellation. Compare what staff actually do on screen, and record any step that requires entering the same information again.

Does Nexara meet Saudi ZATCA e-invoicing requirements?

Keep a billing system that meets the Saudi requirements applicable to your restaurant. Nexara has no ZATCA certification; its Arabic kitchen tickets and receipts serve the order workflow. Your billing system remains responsible for Saudi tax invoices.

ZATCA is Saudi Arabia's Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority. Have your accountant check its current official e-invoicing guidance and identify the requirements that apply to your business. Ask the billing supplier to demonstrate the required invoice process using your restaurant's details.

Nexara does not offer accounting or ERP connectors. Staff must handle the billing handoff manually: assign responsibility for entering each sale and issuing its invoice, then document how cancellations and refunds will be recorded in both systems. Include that work in your evaluation of staffing and closing procedures.

Where can Nexara help a Saudi restaurant?

Nexara runs through a browser, with a Windows print agent for kitchen printing. A Saudi evaluation can focus on the direct order path: a customer places an order, the branch sees it on the board, and the kitchen receives a printed ticket.

  • Arabic order board: supported channels feed one live queue per branch, with order history, search and filters. The dashboard is available in Arabic and English.
  • Call center: an agent searches by phone number to retrieve saved addresses and past orders. Complaint logging is available from the call screen.
  • Own ordering site: a branded Arabic and English storefront can use a custom domain. Customers install it as an app directly from their browser.
  • Multi-branch work: users can be assigned to branches, and menu availability can differ by branch. Managers can review branch activity and reports from one dashboard.

Nexara charges no commission on orders from your own website, app or call center. Card processing or delivery can carry separate charges. Review the Nexara ordering and operations features against the tasks your staff actually perform, particularly how they find returning customers and mark an item unavailable at one branch.

How does Arabic kitchen printing work?

Nexara prints kitchen tickets and receipts on standard ESC/POS thermal printers connected over USB or network through the branch's Windows print agent. Arabic item names and modifiers print clearly, with English available on the same ticket.

Routing can follow product categories and printer groups. Test whether drinks go only to their assigned printer while food reaches the kitchen printer. Use your own Arabic item names and modifiers, including long preparation notes. Have the cook read the ticket at the station where it will be used.

When a printer fails, the ticket waits in a queue. Staff can reroute its categories from the dashboard, or use automatic failover where a backup printer is configured. Kitchen work uses printed tickets rather than kitchen display screens.

An internet outage is different from a broken printer. Orders continue arriving in the cloud queue, and printing catches up after reconnection; the order board itself needs a connection. Keep a phone hotspot available beside the printer PC. During the test, ask the shift manager to restore the connection without help from the person running the demonstration.

Are HungerStation, Jahez, Talabat and Careem connected?

HungerStation and Jahez are not integrated with Nexara, and DHUB is not offered. If those services supply orders to your branch, record who accepts them and how they reach the kitchen through your separate intake process.

Nexara supports Talabat and Careem order intake, including incoming orders and related status handling, with catalogue functions also available. Partner approval determines activation in each market. Give Nexara the exact service and outlet details so you can establish which channels can connect before planning the pilot.

Careem food-order intake and Careem Express delivery dispatch are different functions. One brings marketplace orders into the board; the other books delivery for a restaurant's own order. Specify which function you need when discussing your branch.

The Talabat and Careem order intake details explain the supported flows. Nexara supports online card payments through HyperPay when the company enables them. Confirm your Saudi payment setup before asking customers to use card checkout during a pilot.

What should you prove before a Saudi pilot?

Nexara offers a free plan plus paid plans per branch in JOD, with current rates on request. Printing starts on Growth and call center access requires Pro. A custom domain starts on Starter. Ask for an agreement naming the branches covered and the printer allowance for each, using your actual menu and intended hardware.

  1. Follow a sale to its invoice. Have the assigned cashier complete the documented handoff, then repeat it with a refund.
  2. Trace each order source. Write down who accepts the order and check that the kitchen receives the correct items without duplicate preparation.
  3. Run an Arabic service test. Enter a phone order with modifiers, check its assigned branch and read the printed ticket at the kitchen station.
  4. Test failure recovery. Disconnect the printer, then test an internet outage separately. Check the waiting ticket and observe how staff recover each time.

Nexara support is available in Arabic and English through WhatsApp and email on Amman hours; the founder answers. Give the shift manager those contact details before the pilot and decide who at the restaurant will report a problem.

Keep a written record of each test and who completed it. Before expanding to another branch, review any missed ticket or mismatched invoice with the people who handled the order. A successful demonstration should leave you with a repeatable staff procedure.

What to remember

  • Decide whether you are replacing the till or improving order handling beside it before comparing suppliers.
  • Evaluate Nexara with your Arabic menu, intended printers and branch-specific order sources.

Questions people ask

Does Nexara work in Saudi Arabia today?

Yes, the platform can run in Saudi Arabia through a browser and the Windows print agent, but its current live deployments are in Jordan. Saudi-specific requirements need checking before you commit to a rollout.

Is Nexara a Foodics alternative in Saudi Arabia?

Nexara fits beside an existing till when you need Arabic order handling, caller history and branded online ordering. If you are replacing the till and need a Saudi invoicing system, a Saudi POS supplier such as Foodics or Marn is the better starting point.

How can my cashier check an order at closing?

Nexara has searchable order history and cashier reconciliation reports. Use those records alongside the invoices from your billing system to investigate differences at close.

Can each branch have different menu availability?

Yes. Nexara supports per-branch availability and menu channels, so you can control which items are available at a branch and which menu a channel shows.

Does Nexara support Arabic for staff and customers?

Yes. Its dashboard and storefront support Arabic and English, and kitchen tickets can carry both languages. Test your actual item names and preparation instructions with the staff who will read them.

Can customers track an order from my own website?

Yes. Nexara provides a customer-facing order tracking link. Include opening that link in your storefront test so staff can explain it to a customer.

Can I export customer records if I change software?

Yes. Orders and customer records can be exported as CSV files, and the data belongs to the restaurant. Ask to see a sample export during your evaluation.
