Arabic restaurant software: what to check before signing
Arabic support is easy to promise on a sales call. The useful test is whether your own menu, modifiers and searches work across the dashboard, storefront and printer.

Nexara is a restaurant order and operations platform built in Amman, Jordan, with Arabic and English dashboards, storefronts, tickets and receipts. It sits beside the till rather than replacing the cash register. Before signing, run the twelve checks in this guide on your own menu, printer and branch workflow, then ask Nexara to review the results with you at nexaratech.io.
What should you test first in the dashboard and storefront?
Ask for a trial account, then switch the dashboard language to Arabic. Check the main navigation, order statuses, settings, customer records and error messages. A platform can translate its home page while leaving the working screens in English.
- Open the dashboard in Arabic on a laptop and phone.
- Create a category, product and modifier using Arabic text.
- Change the product price and availability, then confirm the change appears on the ordering site.
- Open the customer-facing storefront and check the logo, menu direction, buttons, checkout and order tracking.
- Switch back to English and confirm that the same product still has one record and one price.
Nexara provides a bilingual dashboard and a branded ordering site that can be installed from the browser as an app. Its menu feeds the website, app, table QR ordering and supported delivery channels, so you should test one change across the channels you actually use. See the Nexara features overview for the product areas to review.
Can Arabic names, modifiers and searches survive a real order?
Do not test only short names such as برغر. Use the text your kitchen and customers actually see: شاورما دجاج, بطاطا مع جبنة, صوص الثوم, and a mixed Arabic-English item. Add modifiers, required choices, optional extras and a long item description.
| Test | What to check | Pass condition |
|---|---|---|
| Arabic product name | Search and menu display | Letters remain joined and readable |
| Modifier group | Required and optional choices | The selected choice appears on the order |
| Mixed text | Arabic, English and numbers | No reversed words or misplaced digits |
| Customer search | Name, phone and order history | The correct record appears |
| Availability | Branch-level stock toggle | The unavailable item disappears where expected |
Search should find an item by its Arabic name, phone number or order history. Test spelling variations used by your team, including أ and ا where relevant. Then place the order from the website or table QR flow and confirm that the kitchen receives the selected modifier, not only the base item.

How do you check Arabic thermal printing on a real branch printer?
Take the printer that your branch would actually use. Nexara drives standard ESC/POS thermal printers over USB or a network, including Epson, Star and Bixolon models. Print a kitchen ticket and a customer receipt with Arabic item names, modifiers, prices, tax and an English line on the same ticket.
- Connect the branch printer and select the Arabic ticket template.
- Print a short item, a long item and a modifier-heavy order.
- Check Arabic letter joining, right-to-left reading order and line wrapping.
- Check that Arabic numerals, prices and totals stay aligned.
- Print the same ticket again and confirm that a manual reprint is clearly controlled.
- Disconnect the printer, place a test order, reconnect it and check that the ticket remains available to print.
Arabic prints correctly on standard ESC/POS printers that have no Arabic font built in. Tickets queue while the connection is down and print when the printer reconnects. The dashboard itself needs a connection, and there is no offline cash register. A branch can also re-route printer categories from the dashboard or use a configured backup printer.
A year went into Nexara's printing engine. Read the practical checks in why Arabic thermal text turns to gibberish before approving a printer setup.
Do Arabic receipts show the details your cashier and kitchen need?
A receipt test should include more than the restaurant name. Add the branch, order type, order number, customer details where appropriate, item quantities, modifiers, discounts, delivery charge, tax and total. Confirm which fields belong on the kitchen ticket and which belong on the customer receipt.
- Check whether Arabic and English can appear on the same ticket.
- Check long Arabic names at the printer width used by the branch.
- Check cancelled or refunded order handling.
- Check pickup, delivery and dine-in order labels.
- Check whether the table number appears on a table QR ticket.
- Check the receipt after changing a menu price and after applying a promotion.
Nexara supports kitchen and receipt printing in Arabic, with English available on the same ticket. The cashier still records the day's net sale at close for reconciliation, so ask how the printed ticket and cashier process meet at your branch.
What should you check in Arabic reports and customer support?
Open reports with Arabic product names, branch names and customer records. Check date filters, branch filters, channel filters and exports. A report is useful only if the manager can identify the item and branch without translating every row.
| Area | Test step | Question to ask |
|---|---|---|
| Orders | Filter a day and channel | Can a manager trace the order to its source? |
| Products | Open product and branch views | Are Arabic names readable in every row? |
| Customers | Search phone and history | Can staff find the customer without English spelling? |
| Channels | Compare website, phone and delivery intake | Are channel labels clear in Arabic? |
| Cashier close | Open reconciliation | Can the cashier match the operational record to the till? |
Review the report tabs across orders, products, customers, channels, delivery, money and operations. Ask support a real Arabic question before signing. Send a screenshot of a printer problem, ask how to change a modifier, and ask where a cancelled order appears. Nexara support is available through WhatsApp and email on Amman hours in Arabic and English, and the founder answers support himself.
Nexara has a free plan plus paid plans per branch in JOD, with current rates available on request. The current rates are one WhatsApp message away.
What are the twelve checks to put in the contract?
- Arabic dashboard: every daily screen works in Arabic.
- Arabic storefront: menu, checkout and tracking are readable.
- Arabic product entry: categories, names and descriptions save correctly.
- Modifiers: required and optional choices print with the order.
- Search: Arabic names, phone numbers and order history are findable.
- Menu updates: one price or availability change reaches the tested channels.
- Kitchen tickets: item details, modifiers and order type are clear.
- Receipts: totals, tax, discounts and customer fields print correctly.
- Thermal printer: your actual ESC/POS device prints joined Arabic text.
- Offline recovery: queued tickets remain available after a connection interruption.
- Reports: Arabic labels, filters, branches and exports are usable.
- Arabic support channel: your team receives a useful answer through WhatsApp or email during the promised support hours.
Record the result of each test, the device used, the printer model, the Arabic sample text and the person who approved it. If a vendor cannot let you run these checks before payment, treat that as a procurement risk. A polished Arabic landing page is not evidence that the kitchen ticket works.
What to remember
- Test the working screens, not only the vendor's Arabic homepage.
- Print real Arabic names and modifiers on the branch's actual ESC/POS printer.
- Check search, reports and receipts in both Arabic and English.
- Write the twelve pass conditions into your buying decision.
- Nexara can run the test with you before you choose a plan.
