Free restaurant software in Jordan: what free covers

A free plan can be useful for testing a menu and taking a small number of direct orders. It becomes expensive when a missing printer, call screen, or branch limit creates work during service.

Free restaurant software in Jordan: what free covers

Nexara is a restaurant order and operations platform built in Amman, Jordan, with a free plan for one branch, 20 products, and up to 30 website and QR orders per month. It sits beside the till, rather than replacing the cash register. Printing and call-center ordering require paid plans, so the right upgrade depends on how your branch takes orders.

Figures in this post are illustrative examples, not a client's actual results.

What does Nexara’s free plan actually include?

The free plan is a usable starting point for a small restaurant, home-based food business, or owner testing a branded ordering page. It gives you one branch, up to 20 products, and a Nexara storefront on a name.nexaratech.io address. The storefront carries the Powered by Nexara badge.

Customers can place website orders and use table QR ordering where the relevant paid feature is enabled. On Free, website and QR orders together are capped at 30 per month. The plan does not include a custom domain, printing, promotions, delivery providers, call center, QR dine-in, or NexaraFlow workflows.

MenuProducts, categories and modifiers20 products
Direct ordersWebsite and QR orders30 per month

Call centerPhone ordering and caller historyPro required

The free plan is therefore best judged by order volume and workflow, not by the word free. If your branch receives fewer than 30 direct website and QR orders in a month and staff can enter accepted orders manually at the till, it may cover the first test.

What can a free online ordering system do?

A free online ordering system can give a restaurant a public menu, basic checkout, and a way to receive a limited number of direct orders. Nexara’s storefront can be generated from the restaurant menu, works in Arabic and English, and can be installed from the browser as an app-like shortcut. Customers can choose cash on delivery or pickup, card online when HyperPay is enabled, or pay at the counter for dine-in.

The free plan is useful when the owner wants to check four things before paying: whether the menu is clear, whether customers complete checkout, whether staff can confirm orders, and whether the direct channel attracts repeat customers. Nexara keeps customer records with addresses and order history attached to orders.

  1. Enter the 20 products that sell most often.
  2. Add prices, modifiers and branch availability.
  3. Share the Nexara storefront link on the restaurant’s existing channels.
  4. Check incoming orders in the live order board.
  5. Compare the monthly order count with the Free limit before service is affected.

Nexara’s own website and app orders carry 0% commission. Talabat and Careem retain their own commissions on orders they bring, so a free plan does not remove third-party marketplace fees.

For example, a small Jordanian branch receiving 18 direct orders in a month would remain below the Free limit. At 34 direct orders, it would exceed the 30-order allowance and should discuss a paid plan before relying on the storefront for the next month.

When does a restaurant need to pay?

Pay when the missing feature creates manual work or blocks a required channel. Nexara’s paid plans are priced per branch in Jordanian dinar, with current rates available on request. The plan structure moves from Free to Starter, Growth and Pro.

Printing is usually the first practical upgrade for a busy branch. Nexara drives standard ESC/POS thermal printers over USB or network. Arabic and English can appear on the same ticket. Tickets stay in the queue if a printer is unavailable, and staff can re-route categories from the dashboard or use a configured backup printer.

The call center is a separate Pro decision. An agent searches a caller’s phone number, sees saved addresses and past orders, and places the order from the call screen. That matters when phone orders are frequent enough that writing numbers on paper causes wrong addresses or repeated customer questions.

How should you compare free restaurant software in Jordan?

Compare the working limit, not the headline price. Some free tools charge through marketplace commissions, restrict the menu, attach a transaction fee, or provide a page without the restaurant’s operational workflow. Ask what happens when an order arrives at 21:00 and the kitchen needs a ticket.

Question to askWhy it matters
How many products can I publish?A short menu may fit Free; a full menu with modifiers may not.
How many direct orders are included?A monthly cap can interrupt a successful channel.
Does the order print in Arabic?Staff should not retype every accepted order.
Is there a custom domain?A Nexara subdomain is included on Free; custom domains start on Starter.
Does the tool replace my till?Nexara is the order and operations layer beside the till.
What is excluded from the free plan?Printing, call center and branch features can determine the real cost.

A free POS Jordan search often mixes two different needs: recording sales at the counter and managing orders around the counter. Nexara does the second job. The cashier records the day’s net sale at close for reconciliation, while Nexara gathers orders from the website, app, phone, table QR, Talabat and Careem into the order board.

What should you test before upgrading?

Use the free period to test the exact work your staff will repeat. Do not test only the owner dashboard. Put the link in front of a customer, enter a modifier, accept an order, and check who owns the next step.

  1. Publish the menu in Arabic and English.
  2. Place a test order from a phone outside the restaurant Wi-Fi.
  3. Check the order status and customer record.
  4. Confirm whether staff can see every required modifier.
  5. Count direct orders during the month.
  6. Decide whether manual till entry is still practical.
  7. Upgrade only for the feature that removes the current bottleneck.

A restaurant that needs tickets in the kitchen should ask about Growth before committing to a live service. A restaurant that needs phone lookup and phone ordering should ask about Pro. A branch that only needs a small branded menu may remain on Free longer.

For the product scope, see Nexara’s features and restaurant workflows. For supported order and delivery connections, review the Nexara integrations. The 14-day trial checklist helps you test the branch before choosing a plan.

What does Nexara not include on Free?

Free does not include kitchen display screens, because Nexara uses printed tickets rather than promising a kitchen display. It also does not include a loyalty programme, reservations, waitlists, staff scheduling, time clocks, accounting or ERP connectors, on-premise deployment, proprietary terminals, JoFotara e-invoicing, ZATCA certification, Jahez or DHUB integrations, or WhatsApp order notifications.

Nexara’s WhatsApp module is a conversation inbox for call-center roles, not an order-notification sender. The platform is cloud-based, and there is no offline cash register or offline order board. Orders can remain in the cloud queue during a connection problem, while the board needs a connection to display them.

That list matters because a free plan can be the wrong tool even when the price is right. If your legal invoicing, accounting connector, reservations or hardware bundle is the deciding requirement, check that requirement separately before signup.
