JoFotara for restaurants and Nexara’s role beside the till

Your kitchen ticket prints correctly, but your accountant asks whether the sale reached JoFotara. During a busy shift, you need to know which screen holds the answer.

JoFotara: where Nexara stands

Nexara gives your branch one order board and Arabic kitchen printing as a restaurant order and operations platform built in Amman, Jordan. It does not integrate with JoFotara, Jordan’s national e-invoicing system, today. Arrange invoice submission separately with your accountant and invoicing supplier, then agree how staff will hand over sales records.

What is JoFotara e-invoicing?

JoFotara is the national e-invoicing system operated by Jordan’s Income and Sales Tax Department (ISTD). The department publishes registration guidance and instructions for using the system, including issuing invoices through its portal and connecting invoicing software. Visit the department’s official website, istd.gov.jo, and follow its national e-invoicing links.

An order tells the kitchen what to prepare. A payment record shows how money was collected. To check invoice submission, staff need the invoicing system’s record of JoFotara’s response. Have the supplier show where that response appears and how your accountant can retrieve it later.

Before changing how you issue invoices, take your business registration and current invoice layout to your accountant. They can check which ISTD instructions apply to your restaurant and mark any details that need changing. Keep that marked-up layout for the supplier demonstration.

Where can you check Jordan’s official invoicing requirements?

Start with ISTD’s JoFotara instructions for program requirements and its technical documentation for software connection details. Your accountant can apply those requirements to your restaurant. Record the official document title and revision date beside their advice so you can find the source again.

  • Registration and applicability: have your accountant identify the current ISTD instruction that applies to your legal entity.
  • Invoice contents: compare your invoice layout with the official guidance, field by field.
  • Software connection: get the supplier to name the official technical documentation its product follows.
  • Evidence of submission: locate the response record in the invoicing product and check that your accountant can access it.

Get a written definition of “JoFotara ready.” It should name the product that submits invoices and explain every manual step. During the demonstration, have the cashier follow those steps from their normal working screen. Check whether the quoted price includes the invoicing subscription they are using.

Where does Nexara stand today?

The Order board brings Talabat and Careem orders, phone orders, website and installable-app orders, and table QR orders into one view per branch. Staff can search order history and filter records when investigating a sale.

In the Call center, entering a caller’s phone number brings up saved addresses and past orders. Staff take the order from that screen. Call center is a Pro-plan feature, so include it explicitly when discussing your branch’s subscription.

Kitchen tickets and receipts print in Arabic, with English supported on the same ticket. End of Day and Cashier Reconciliation report tabs help staff review sales and cash at close. The cashier records the day’s net sale for reconciliation.

The public API supports external order intake, an external menu and webhook subscriptions. Nexara does not offer accounting or ERP connectors today. A handoff to another product therefore needs a written procedure showing which records staff enter or transfer.

Use the Nexara feature catalogue to check the order tools against your shift routine. What Nexara does not do yet covers the product boundaries.

What should you check in restaurant invoicing software?

When you search for a “JoFotara restaurant POS,” evaluate invoice submission separately from the ordering screen. Have the supplier demonstrate the complete process using test data, from completing a sale to retrieving the submission response. Include a failed submission in the demonstration.

CheckAsk the supplier to showWhat you are establishing
Connection methodThe exact product that sends invoice data to JoFotaraWhether submission is built in, handled by another product, or manual
Submission resultHow staff see JoFotara’s responseHow an accepted invoice is distinguished from one still waiting or rejected
Business identityWhere the restaurant’s taxpayer details are configuredWhether invoices use the details your accountant has approved
Corrections and refundsThe supported correction process and its official basisWhat staff must do when a sale changes after invoicing
Connection failureWhat staff see when submission fails and how they resolve itWho follows up and how duplicate submission is prevented
Records and accessHow an accountant retrieves invoices and submission recordsWhether evidence can be found without relying on a screenshot

Have the supplier mark any demonstration feature that is unavailable in the version you would buy. The quotation should name the submitting product and include any required subscription. Put responsibility for rejected invoices in writing, including who staff contact when submission fails during service.

If JoFotara connectivity is your immediate purchasing condition, select invoicing software that demonstrates the required submission process. The restaurant POS guide for Jordan explains how to separate till requirements from order handling when assessing the rest of your branch setup.

How can you use Nexara alongside separate invoicing?

Agree with your accountant where invoices will be issued and who will check submission results. Then test the handoff from orders in Nexara to that separate process with the person who closes the till.

  1. Write the invoicing product’s name and the responsible staff member’s name on the closing checklist.
  2. Take a test order from each channel you use and trace it through invoice issuance.
  3. Record each field the cashier must enter manually, then compare the completed invoice with the order.
  4. Run a failed submission and a correction through the accountant-approved procedure. Assign unresolved cases to a named person.
  5. Compare the order and payment records with the invoice records at close. Have your accountant approve the checklist before staff use it during service.

Staff issue invoices in the separate invoicing system and check submission results before closing reconciliation.

Nexara’s order history and Cashier Reconciliation report provide records for reviewing sales. Keep the corresponding invoice reference available to the person investigating a mismatch, using the recordkeeping procedure your accountant approves.

For delivery-platform sales, get your accountant’s instructions for recording the sale and the platform’s fees separately. For dine-in, test the invoicing process against Nexara’s item-based bill splitting. The cashier needs a clear procedure when guests pay for their own items.

What should you prepare before speaking to Nexara?

Write down your current till or invoicing product and the point where staff issue an invoice. Note who checks JoFotara submission results and where orders are entered twice. Bring a blank invoice layout with the supplier’s description of its submission process.

Nexara support is available through WhatsApp and email on Amman hours, in Arabic and English. Founder Issa Al-Dalu answers support. In your WhatsApp conversation with the founder, describe the manual work you want to remove and the invoicing process you need to keep.

What to remember

  • Verify submission using JoFotara’s response in the invoicing system.
  • Test failed submissions and corrections with the staff who will handle them.

Questions people ask

Does Nexara integrate with JoFotara?

No. Invoice issuance and JoFotara submission belong in your separate invoicing provider’s process.

When will Nexara add JoFotara?

Nexara has no confirmed JoFotara release date. Your rollout schedule should include a separate invoicing product from the start.

Does printing a receipt mean my invoice reached JoFotara?

No. Check the submission response in your invoicing system to establish whether the invoice was accepted.

Do all restaurants in Jordan follow the same invoicing rules?

Your restaurant’s registration and tax position determine which current ISTD instructions apply. Your accountant should confirm the relevant requirements and any applicable exceptions or dates.

Can I keep my invoicing software and use Nexara for orders?

Yes, with an agreed handoff between order handling and invoicing. Confirm who enters invoice details and who checks submission results before using that workflow during service.

What happens to the invoice when I refund an order?

The refund needs to be checked against the invoice in your separate invoicing system. Have your accountant define the required correction or credit-note procedure, then test it with the invoicing supplier.
