Nexara vs Deliverect and Otter: do you need middleware?

Your till already receives delivery orders, and you are weighing another subscription. Ask the supplier to show what it adds, including what happens when a cancellation arrives after the kitchen ticket has printed.

Choose the connection your kitchen needs

Nexara provides shared order handling and Arabic printing beside your till: a restaurant order and operations platform built in Amman, Jordan, for the Arabic-speaking Middle East. Talabat and Careem activation in your market requires partner approval. Keep a working POS connection; discuss missing capabilities with Nexara's founder before adding or replacing a subscription.

What does delivery middleware change for your staff?

Delivery middleware can save staff from retyping delivery orders into the POS they already use. It passes orders from an ordering channel to the receiving system. Depending on the connection, it can also pass menu changes or order statuses. Receiving an order and handling its cancellation are separate checks.

Deliverect markets automatic delivery-order transfer into connected POS systems and central menu management. Otter markets a consolidated order-management screen with automatic order acceptance and ticket printing. Both sell products beyond aggregation, so compare the named products in each quote rather than treating either company as a connector alone.

The distinction is where staff handle the order. Middleware can feed an existing POS workflow. Nexara brings orders onto its branch order board and prints kitchen tickets beside the till. These are different order paths, even when they begin with the same delivery app.

The two paths show where an order goes for staff to act on it.

Which checks should your order connection pass?

A Talabat or Careem logo on a sales page does not describe the whole connection. Nexara's Talabat intake includes incoming cancellations and status updates back to the provider. Careem intake also handles driver information, item replacements and scheduled orders. Use the same acceptance checklist for your current setup and any proposed replacement.

  1. Trace an order to the kitchen ticket. Check item names, prices and modifiers, then confirm it reached the correct branch without retyping. Include items prepared at different stations to check printer routing.
  2. Send a cancellation through the provider's agreed test process. Check where staff see it and how they stop preparation after a ticket has printed.
  3. Change a menu item and publish the update. Confirm that the customer can select the intended modifiers and that the resulting order carries the updated price.
  4. Mark an order ready on the staff screen. Check whether that status reaches the provider. For Careem, include scheduled orders or item replacements if your branch uses them.
  5. Disconnect branch internet during a controlled test. Record what remains available and how staff recover after reconnection.
  6. Record the result of each check, keeping the original order details beside the resulting tickets. Assign unresolved failures to a named supplier contact.

Run the checks with the person who handles delivery orders during service. A manager may know that cancellations appear somewhere; the cashier needs to find them while orders are coming in. Note the screen used at each step and any information staff must copy by hand.

Use the results to identify a specific buying need: a missing channel, manual entry or an order change that staff cannot see. The guide to Talabat and Careem order intake separates receiving orders from replacing the till.

When are Deliverect or Otter the better pick?

Deliverect is the better pick when keeping delivery orders inside your existing POS is the priority and its integration directory covers the channel you need. Its restaurant product describes automatic order transfer into the POS and menu updates across connected channels. Confirm your country, outlet and POS version in the quote.

Otter is the better pick when staff juggle delivery tablets and you want a focused consolidated screen with automatic acceptance and ticket printing. These are publicly documented Otter Order Manager capabilities. Confirm that the package supports your country's delivery services and outlets, plus any POS connection you require.

For restaurants elsewhere in the region, Nexara provides Arabic kitchen printing, commission-free own-channel ordering and a call center with caller history, alongside multi-branch menus and reports in Arabic and English. Its live deployments are in Jordan. It has no local e-invoicing or additional local aggregator integrations outside Jordan.

What does Nexara cover beyond aggregation?

Nexara puts Talabat and Careem orders in the same branch queue as phone, branded website, installable app and table QR orders. Open dashboard screens receive order updates. Staff can follow these channels on one board, with order history available for searches and follow-up.

Kitchen tickets print in Arabic and English on standard ESC/POS thermal printers over USB or network. Menu-category routing sends the relevant items to each printer. A ticket can carry Arabic item names and modifiers so the cook receives the preparation instructions with the order.

Nexara also supports ingredient and recipe costing, inventory counts and waste records. NexaraFlow assigns recurring tasks by role with deadlines and escalation. The call-center screen retrieves saved addresses and past orders by phone number. Call center and NexaraFlow require Pro; kitchen printing starts on Growth.

Branded website, app and call-center orders carry no Nexara commission. Talabat and Careem retain their commission on orders they bring. Dispatch for your own orders is a separate function, supported through Careem Express, TopDeliver or Nashmi. The live order board guide explains how staff handle the shared queue.

Where does Nexara stop?

Nexara handles orders and operations beside the till. Check these limits against your purchasing requirements:

  • Existing POS connections: Nexara has a public API; a connection to your specific till needs separate confirmation. Accounting and ERP connectors are not offered.
  • Delivery channels: Jahez and DHUB integrations are not offered today.
  • Invoicing and messaging: Nexara does not provide JoFotara e-invoicing or WhatsApp order notifications.
  • Internet: orders continue arriving in the cloud while the branch is disconnected, and printing catches up after reconnection. The order board needs a connection; keep a phone hotspot beside the printer PC.

Nexara has a free plan plus paid plans per branch in JOD, with current rates on request. Price the plan that includes your required printing and operational features. Include existing connector fees in the comparison, especially if middleware is bundled into your current POS contract.

Who owns the switch and signs off the day's sales?

Before changing the order route, name the person responsible for the cutover at each branch. Record when the old route stops and the new one starts, who can authorise a return to the old setup, and which supplier investigates missing orders. Staff need one clear instruction about where to accept each channel's orders.

Agree how the cashier will record sales at the till and compare them with Nexara's orders. Nexara provides End of Day and Cashier Reconciliation reports. For the first close, compare the same branch and trading period, separating cash collected from sales paid through delivery platforms. Assign any difference to someone who can resolve it.

Have the branch manager sign off the acceptance results and the cashier sign off the closing procedure. Put any remaining manual work in writing. A successful switch means the team knows who handles an exception and how the day's sales will be checked, as well as where the order appears.

What to remember

  • Buy against a documented gap in order handling, rather than a list of integration logos.
  • Deliverect suits a confirmed channel-to-POS connection; Otter suits supported tablet consolidation with automatic acceptance and printing.
  • Nexara combines shared order handling with Arabic printing and operations beside the till.
  • Assign switching responsibility and agree the sales reconciliation procedure before cutover.
  • For your next step, the WhatsApp button below connects you with Issa Al-Dalu, Nexara's founder in Amman, at nexaratech.io. Bring your country, POS name and the order-handling problem you want to fix.

Questions people ask

Do I need Deliverect if my POS already takes Talabat orders?

Only if its quoted package adds a capability you need, such as another supported channel-to-POS connection.

Is Otter the same thing as Deliverect?

No. Their aggregation products overlap, but Deliverect emphasises connected POS order transfer, while Otter Order Manager provides a consolidated order screen with acceptance and printing.

Can Nexara replace Deliverect or Otter in Jordan?

For Talabat and Careem intake plus kitchen printing, Nexara can be an alternative. Compare the other products included in your current package before deciding.

Will Nexara send orders into my current POS?

Its standard order path goes to the Nexara branch board and kitchen printers, rather than directly into your till.

Does Nexara remove delivery-app commission?

No. Receiving a delivery-app order through Nexara leaves your agreement with that app unchanged.

Can I keep my till and use Nexara for kitchen orders?
