Restaurant software FAQ: 30 questions before you buy

A demo can look tidy while your Thursday service is anything but. You need answers about the printer, the bill and who picks up when something breaks.

30 questions before you buy

Owners ask about cost, channel coverage, printing reliability and support: Nexara answers with JOD plans, a shared order board, Arabic tickets and founder support. It is a restaurant order and operations platform built in Amman, Jordan, beside your till rather than replacing it. Start by confirming channel access and testing your printer.

What exactly are you buying?

1. Does Nexara replace my till?

Nexara sits beside the till as the order and operations layer, bringing orders into a branch queue and routing kitchen tickets. You access it online, with the Windows print app at the branch. At close, the cashier records the day's net sale for reconciliation.

2. Can my team work in Arabic?

Yes. Nexara's dashboard and branded storefront work in Arabic and English, and receipts can carry both languages. Arabic item names and modifiers also appear on kitchen tickets, so the kitchen can read the customer's selected extras.

3. How much does Nexara cost?

Nexara has a free plan, then paid plans per branch in Jordanian dinar, with current rates on request. The free plan is limited to 20 products and 30 website orders per month. Printing starts on Growth, while the call center is on Pro.

4. How quickly can I start taking orders?

Your ordering link can be live the day you sign up, and printer setup usually happens the same day. Talabat and Careem activation depends on partner approval. Signup uses a phone number and SMS code, without a card or commercial registration.

Where do orders come from?

5. Will orders appear on one screen?

Nexara puts phone, website, installable app, table QR, Talabat and Careem orders into one live queue per branch. Updates appear on open dashboard screens. The board supports delivery, pickup and dine-in orders, with searchable order history for checking what happened later.

6. What do the Talabat and Careem connections do?

Both connections bring orders into Nexara and handle incoming cancellations, with catalogue tools for each provider. Careem also passes driver information and item replacements. The Talabat and Careem order intake overview covers these connections separately from dispatching your own deliveries.

7. Can I connect Jahez or DHUB?

Nexara does not offer Jahez or DHUB connections today. Its supported aggregator order intake is Talabat and Careem. If Jahez or DHUB carries your orders, staff will still need to handle those orders outside Nexara's connected intake.

8. Do I get my own ordering website and app?

Nexara generates a branded ordering website from your menu, with theme colours taken from your logo. Customers can install it as an app from their browser. A custom domain is available from Starter; the free plan uses a Nexara subdomain.

9. How can customers pay at checkout?

Storefront checkout supports cash on delivery or pickup, and online card payments through HyperPay when your company enables them. Dine-in uses payment at the counter or table. Online card payment is hidden for dine-in to prevent double payment on a shared bill.

What happens in the kitchen?

10. Can I keep my existing printers?

Nexara drives standard ESC/POS thermal printers over USB or network through its Windows print app. Bring the exact printer model and connection details to the setup discussion. Compatibility depends on that equipment; Bluetooth printing is unavailable.

11. Will Arabic item names print correctly?

Arabic item names and modifiers print correctly on supported thermal printers, with English on the same ticket. Receipt and kitchen-ticket templates can be assigned per printer, so the kitchen and cashier can receive different layouts.

12. What happens if the branch loses internet?

Orders keep arriving in the cloud queue while the branch connection is down, and printing catches up after reconnection. The order board itself needs a connection. Keep a phone hotspot beside the printer PC as a practical backup for service.

13. What happens when a printer fails?

The order stays on the board and its ticket waits in a queue. You can reroute that printer's categories from the dashboard, or use automatic failover where a backup printer is configured. Queued tickets print once after recovery.

14. Does Nexara have kitchen display screens?

Nexara uses printed kitchen tickets and does not offer kitchen display screens today. Routing can send product categories to designated printers, such as kitchen or bar. Table QR orders print with the table number so staff can identify the destination.

Can Nexara handle the rest of the branch?

15. Can I change menus and availability by branch?

Yes. Nexara has a shared product catalogue with modifiers, channel-specific menus and per-branch availability. Catalogue tools can push products to Talabat and Careem. One branch can mark an item unavailable while another continues selling it.

16. Does it track ingredients and food cost?

Nexara supports ingredients and recipes, including recipe costing and prep yield. Inventory work includes stock counts, waste records, suppliers and purchase orders. Those records give the food-cost tools something to calculate from, so accurate recipes and regular counts remain work for your team.

17. Can I dispatch orders to delivery drivers?

Your own orders can be dispatched through Careem Express, TopDeliver or Nashmi, with tracking and cancellation functions. Nexara also has a driver role for an in-house fleet. Growth allows one delivery provider; Pro supports unlimited providers.

18. Can I manage several branches?

Nexara supports franchise, company and branch levels, with user assignments and permissions. Its reports include product performance by branch, while availability can differ between locations. Live deployments today are in Jordan; the Nexara feature catalogue describes the branch-level tools.

What can managers and office staff do?

19. Can phone staff see a returning customer's details?

On the Pro plan, an agent enters a phone number to retrieve saved addresses and past orders. The call screen also supports complaint logging and warns about unsaved orders.

20. What reports are available?

Nexara has report tabs covering orders, products, customers, channels, delivery, money and operations. End-of-day and cashier reconciliation reports are included among those views. Accounting and ERP connectors are unavailable today, so transferring figures to your accounting system remains a separate step.

21. What does the Bloub assistant actually do?

Bloub answers questions using your company's numbers and provides citations. It can retrieve sales summaries or inventory alerts, open a dashboard page and prefill a form. It also runs nightly checks for patterns such as demand shifts and regular customers who stopped ordering.

22. Can I assign recurring checks to branch staff?

NexaraFlow, available on Pro, assigns timed, recurring tasks by role and branch, with stages and escalation. Available task templates include morning inventory and daily inspection. Managers can follow task status and export workflow records as PDFs; staff scheduling and a time clock are unavailable.

Check the workflow before committing

Nexara has searchable order history and category-based printer routing, so an evaluation can follow an order beyond checkout. Use your own menu and equipment for these checks:

  1. Place an order with an Arabic modifier and inspect the printed ticket.
  2. Change branch availability and check the relevant ordering channel.
  3. Disconnect the branch connection, then reconnect and inspect queued printing.
  4. Find the order in history and review its status.

Questions people ask

Who owns my customer data?

Your restaurant owns its customer records, including saved addresses and order history. Nexara provides CSV export of orders and customers, supports deletion on request within 30 days, and never markets to your customers.

Does Nexara charge commission on orders?

Nexara charges zero commission on your own website, app and call-center orders. Paid plans use a subscription in Jordanian dinar. Talabat and Careem keep their own commission on the orders they bring.

Can I run discounts or a loyalty programme?

Promotions start on Starter and include discount codes, percentage discounts and combo deals. A loyalty-points promotion type exists, but Nexara does not offer a loyalty programme module today.

Does Nexara handle JoFotara or Saudi ZATCA requirements?

Nexara does not provide JoFotara e-invoicing or ZATCA certification today. Keep compliant invoicing with a suitable system, and treat that requirement separately from Nexara's order intake and kitchen printing.

Will customers get WhatsApp order notifications?

Nexara's WhatsApp tool is a conversation inbox for call-center roles, without automated order notifications. Orders have a customer-facing tracking link, while staff can receive web push notifications in the dashboard.

Can customers reserve a table through Nexara?

Nexara does not offer reservations or waitlists today. Its table tools serve guests who are dining in: they scan a table QR code to order, and the kitchen ticket carries their table number.

Who answers when I need support?

Nexara offers support through WhatsApp and email during Amman hours, in Arabic and English. Founder Issa Al-Dalu answers support himself; arrange your opening-day checks around those hours.

Can I cancel or get my first payment back?

You can cancel anytime, and subscriptions do not auto-renew. Nexara offers a 14-day money-back period on the first payment. When a paid plan lapses, the account drops to Free rather than being suspended or deleted.
