A Sane Restaurant Tech Stack in Jordan for 2026

You have a kitchen, a Friday rush, and several tablets showing the same order in different places.

A Sane Restaurant Tech Stack in Jordan for 2026

Nexara is a restaurant order and operations platform built in Amman, Jordan, for the work beside your till: website, phone, QR, Talabat and Careem orders reach one live order queue with Arabic kitchen printing. Nexara covers the order and operations work beside your till; you still need a till, internet, payments setup and partner accounts.

Figures in this post are illustrative examples, not a client's actual results.

What belongs in a sane stack, and what does not.

A Jordanian restaurant needs a till for recording sales, stable internet, ordinary thermal printers, payment methods, delivery channels and one place where staff can see every order. Reviews and customer records can follow. Nexara's features cover the order and operations work beside the till.

Do you need a POS, or something beside it?

The till remains useful for walk-in sales, cash control and end-of-day reconciliation. Nexara is not a POS or cash register. It is the order and operations layer beside the till: website, app, table QR, call-center, Talabat and Careem orders arrive in one live queue, then the cashier records the day's net sale at close.

A till may handle payment at the counter while doing little for delivery intake, Arabic kitchen tickets, menu availability or customer history. A restaurant order and operations platform covers those surrounding tasks without asking you to replace working cashier hardware.

Read how a restaurant order and operations platform fits beside the till and Nexara's restaurant POS guidance for Jordan.

How should orders reach the kitchen?

Nexara puts phone, website, app, table QR, Talabat and Careem orders into one queue per branch. A ticket can route to the kitchen, bar or cashier by branch, printer group and menu category. Staff can see the order status instead of checking several tablets.

Nexara drives standard ESC/POS thermal printers over USB or a network, including common Epson, Star and Bixolon machines. Arabic item and modifier names print as Arabic, and English can appear on the same ticket. A year went into Nexara's printing engine so Arabic tickets remain readable.

If a printer stops responding, the ticket stays on the board and waits in a queue. Staff can re-route its categories from the dashboard, or automatic failover can use a configured backup printer. The board needs a connection, so a phone hotspot beside the printer computer is a sensible fallback. There is no offline cash register.

Which channels should a Jordanian restaurant actually run?

Use the channels customers already use. In Jordan, Talabat and Careem can send orders into Nexara, with status and catalogue flows subject to partner activation. In other markets, ask about activation before promising either channel. Nexara also provides commission-free ordering through the restaurant's branded website, installable browser app and call center. Talabat and Careem keep their commissions on orders they bring.

The storefront takes cash on delivery or pickup, online card payment through HyperPay when enabled, and pay at the counter for dine-in. CliQ is used for subscription billing and phone-order payment links, not as a storefront checkout method.

For a branch with its own drivers, Nexara can dispatch orders through Careem Express, TopDeliver or Nashmi. Jahez and DHUB are not offered today, and Deliveroo is not offered.

Nexara supports products, modifiers, menu lists and per-branch availability, with catalogue push to Talabat and Careem. See the current integrations list before choosing a channel.

What should you skip in 2026?

Skip a tool when the handoff it fixes is not failing. Printed tickets can replace a kitchen display screen where that suits the branch. Nexara prints tickets rather than providing kitchen display screens.

  • Skip a custom app-store build. Nexara's branded storefront installs from the browser as a progressive web app.
  • Skip a loyalty programme. Nexara has promotion types, including loyalty points, but does not provide a loyalty programme module.
  • Skip reservations, waitlists, staff scheduling and time clocks. These are not Nexara features today.
  • Skip accounting or ERP connectors until the accountant confirms the required export or integration. Nexara does not provide accounting or ERP connectors.
  • Skip on-premise hardware bundles and proprietary terminals. Nexara runs in a browser with the Windows print agent and standard ESC/POS printers.
  • Skip claims that software handles JoFotara e-invoicing. Nexara does not provide JoFotara compliance today.

How do you choose the smallest workable setup?

The numbers below are an illustrative example, not a client's actual figures. A Jordanian branch may handle roughly 60 to 400 orders a day, with tickets commonly averaging 4 to 12 JOD. Those ranges are a planning guide, not a Nexara result.

  1. List every order source used in a normal week: counter, phone, website, table QR, Talabat and Careem.
  2. Keep the till for cashier work if it records sales and cash reconciliation correctly.
  3. Choose one ordinary ESC/POS printer position for kitchen tickets, then add bar or cashier routing when the menu requires it.
  4. Create one menu with modifiers and branch availability. Check each active channel's item and price.
  5. Choose payment for own-channel orders: cash on delivery or pickup, card online through HyperPay, or pay at the counter for dine-in.
  6. Test a cancelled order, a sold-out item and a printer outage before the first busy shift.
  7. Review the operational reports after the first week, including orders, products, customers, channels, delivery and money.

Nexara has a free plan, then paid plans per branch in Jordanian dinar. Current rates are available on request. The call center starts on Pro, QR dine-in starts on Growth, and printer and branch limits depend on the plan.

A free account needs no card and can be cancelled. Signup uses a phone number and one-time SMS code. The ordering link can be available the day you sign up, while printer setup and partner activation depend on the branch and provider.

What to remember

  • Keep the till for cashier work and add Nexara's order and operations layer beside it.
  • Use one live queue and Arabic thermal printing instead of separate channel tablets where possible.
  • Start with the channels that bring orders, then add own ordering and dispatch when the branch can support them.
  • Check each integration and invoicing requirement before committing to a setup.

Questions people ask

What software does a restaurant in Jordan need?

Most restaurants need a till plus Nexara's order and operations layer, kitchen printing, payments, delivery channel access, menu control and customer records. Add inventory, costing and workflows when the operation needs them.

Is Nexara a POS system?

No. Nexara is the order and operations layer beside the till. It collects channel orders, prints tickets, tracks preparation and provides restaurant reports.

Can Nexara integrate with Talabat and Careem?

Nexara supports Talabat and Careem order intake and catalogue flows. In Jordan, activation depends on partner approval, and activation must be checked for each other market.

Does Nexara support JoFotara e-invoicing?

Nexara does not provide JoFotara e-invoicing compliance today. Confirm your invoicing obligations with your accountant and the relevant Jordanian authority.

What printers work with Nexara?

Nexara drives standard ESC/POS thermal printers over USB or a network. Common supported brands include Epson, Star and Bixolon.

Does Nexara work without internet?

Orders can remain in the cloud queue while the connection is down, and the printer catches up after reconnection. The board needs a connection, so a phone hotspot is a sensible fallback.

Does Nexara send WhatsApp order notifications?

Nexara provides a WhatsApp conversation inbox for call-center roles. It does not send order-notification messages through WhatsApp.
