Talabat or Careem for a Restaurant in Jordan?

Choosing one delivery app feels simple until the Friday rush starts and the kitchen receives orders in two separate places. Test both, then give the team one order board.

Talabat or Careem for a Restaurant in Jordan?

Nexara is a restaurant order and operations platform built in Amman, Jordan. It brings Talabat and Careem orders into one live board, sends tickets to the kitchen in Arabic and English, and keeps your own website, app, phone and QR orders beside them. Talabat and Careem keep their own commission; Nexara does not change it. Start by connecting both and reviewing channel reports.

Figures in this post are illustrative examples, not a client's actual results.

Should a Jordanian restaurant choose Talabat, Careem, or both?

Talabat and Careem solve the same basic problem, but they do not guarantee the same order volume, customer mix or delivery coverage for every branch. Publicly, both operate as restaurant delivery marketplaces in Jordan. Your decision should come from branch-level order data, average ticket, cancelled orders, preparation pressure and the commission written into your commercial agreement.

For a new branch, listing on both gives you a cleaner test than guessing from another restaurant's experience. Keep the menu, prices, opening hours and item availability accurate on each platform. After a defined test period, compare completed orders and contribution after commission, rather than counting app orders alone.

Where is Talabat the better pick?

Talabat may be the better first pick when its coverage and customer demand are stronger in the exact neighbourhood your branch serves. That is a local question. A restaurant in Amman should review its own Talabat proposal, delivery radius, promotional terms and expected visibility instead of applying a city-wide assumption.

The operational risk is familiar: a new Talabat order can arrive while a cashier is answering the phone or packing an earlier Careem order. If the team retypes the order, an item, modifier, address or note can be lost. Nexara's Talabat intake places the order on the branch's live board and routes the ticket to printing.

Talabat is also the better pick when its catalogue process fits your menu maintenance work more closely. Nexara supports catalogue fetching and pushing, SKU mapping, outlet mapping and reconciliation for Talabat. The branch still needs to confirm the partner account, menu content and approval before orders can flow.

Where is Careem the better pick?

Careem may be the better pick when its customer base, coverage or commercial terms fit your branch better. Its food-order integration can bring orders into Nexara, accept orders, return statuses, carry driver information, handle item replacements and receive cancellations. Careem catalogue, hours and availability updates are also supported.

Careem can be useful when the restaurant wants to separate marketplace orders from its own delivery orders. Nexara supports Careem food orders as an incoming channel. For the restaurant's own website, app or call-center orders, dispatch can use Careem Express, TopDeliver or Nashmi where the relevant provider and plan are enabled. Growth allows 1 delivery provider, Pro allows unlimited providers, and Free and Starter do not include dispatch.

Choose Careem when its signed rate, delivery coverage or branch demand produces the stronger contribution after food cost and refunds. That decision belongs to your numbers. Nexara does not set either marketplace's commission.

For the commission calculation, see Talabat commission math for restaurants.

How do you run Talabat and Careem together?

The goal is one kitchen process, not one delivery company. In Nexara, Talabat, Careem, the phone, your branded website and app, and table QR orders can arrive in one live queue for the branch. The cashier or order manager sees the channel, order type, status and customer details without copying the ticket into a second system.

Talabat, Careem and your own channel meet on one Nexara board before the kitchen ticket prints.

  1. Connect the approved Talabat and Careem accounts for the branch.
  2. Check products, modifiers, prices, hours and branch availability on both catalogues.
  3. Assign the kitchen, bar and cashier printer categories so each ticket reaches the right station.
  4. Train the team to work from the Nexara live board instead of retyping marketplace orders.
  5. Use the order status flow from pending to confirmed, preparing, ready and delivered or cancelled.
  6. Review channel, failed-order, delivery and financial report tabs at close.

Nexara prints Arabic thermal tickets on ordinary ESC/POS printers, with English available on the same ticket. Tickets wait in a queue if the printer is temporarily unavailable, and the dashboard can re-route categories to another printer. The order board itself needs a connection, so a phone hotspot beside the printer computer is the sensible backup.

Nexara is the order and operations layer beside the till. It is not a cash register or POS. The cashier can record the day's net sale at close and use the cashier reconciliation report while the platform keeps channel orders, kitchen printing, customers and operations together.

Should you build your own ordering channel too?

Nexara's branded website is generated from your menu, works on a custom domain or subdomain, and can be installed from the browser as an app. It gives customers a direct ordering path beside marketplace listings. Talabat and Careem can help discovery and delivery, but the restaurant pays their commission on the orders they bring. Nexara's branded website, installable browser app and call center carry 0% commission on your own orders. Storefront checkout supports cash on delivery or pickup, card online through HyperPay when enabled, and pay at the counter for dine-in.

Use both marketplaces beside your own channel. Put the branded ordering link on your Google profile, packaging, receipts and social profiles. Keep marketplace menus accurate while giving regular customers a clear reason to order direct, such as a restaurant-funded promotion or free delivery where your margin allows it.

Nexara owns the customer records attached to orders from its channels. Customer addresses and order history stay available to the restaurant, with CSV export supported. Read own delivery versus aggregators before choosing how much delivery work to keep in-house.

How should you compare the two apps after launch?

Compare the same period and the same branch. A 30-day review is easier to act on than a single busy weekend. Separate marketplace commission from food cost, refunds, discounts funded by the restaurant and delivery charges that the restaurant absorbs.

Illustrative example: a branch receives 100 Talabat orders and 80 Careem orders in a month, with an average ticket of 8 JOD. At a 25% commission, each platform's commission would be calculated separately from the gross order value, then adjusted for refunds and restaurant-funded discounts. These figures describe the method, not a Nexara result.

What to remember

  • Test Talabat and Careem by branch instead of choosing from general reputation.
  • Use one Nexara order board so marketplace orders are not retyped between screens.
  • Keep your own website, app and call center beside the marketplaces at 0% commission.
  • Review completed orders, cancellations, preparation time and net contribution after 30 days.
