Commission-free online ordering for restaurants in Jordan

A busy kitchen can still leave you with a thin margin when the commission comes off. Your regulars need a direct ordering link, but your team does not need another screen to babysit.

Your own orders. 0% commission.

A restaurant in Jordan can avoid aggregator commission on direct orders by taking them through its own branded website and installable app. Nexara, a restaurant order and operations platform built in Amman, Jordan, charges 0% commission on the restaurant's own website, app and call center. Subscription, payment processing and delivery costs still need budgeting.

Figures in this post are illustrative examples, not a client's actual results.

What does 0% commission actually save?

Start with the sales that could realistically come through your own link. Do not multiply your entire aggregator turnover by a commission rate and call that your saving. Some customers discover you through Talabat or Careem, and those orders may remain there.

Suppose a branch handles 100 orders a day across its channels. Of those, 20 daily orders come directly through its own website instead of an aggregator. At an average ticket of 6 JOD over 30 days, that is 3,600 JOD in direct sales.

CalculationIllustrative result
Direct orders: 20 per day × 30 days600 orders
Direct sales: 600 × 6 JOD3,600 JOD
Commission on those sales at 25%900 JOD
Commission on those sales at 30%1,080 JOD
Nexara commission on those direct sales at 0%0 JOD

The 900 to 1,080 JOD is a gross commission difference, not net profit or a promised Nexara result. Commission rates of 25 to 30 percent are commonly quoted for Talabat and Careem, but your agreement determines your actual charges and the amount they apply to.

Subtract the costs of running the direct channel before making a decision. Use your settlement statement rather than a headline rate. The Talabat commission calculation guide explains the calculation in more detail.

What costs remain on a commission-free order?

Zero commission means Nexara does not take a percentage of orders from your own website, app or call center. It does not mean the whole order costs nothing to accept or deliver. Nexara has a free plan plus paid plans per branch in JOD, with current rates on request.

  • Software: include the paid plan needed for your actual workflow, rather than assuming every feature comes with the free plan.
  • Card processing: get the applicable charges from your payment provider. These are separate from Nexara's order commission.
  • Delivery: budget for your own drivers or courier partner. Commission-free ordering does not include free transport.
  • Customer acquisition: count any advertising or direct-order discounts you fund.

Compare like with like. A pickup order paid in cash has a different cost structure from a delivered order paid by card. Food and packaging costs still exist under either channel. Any change in who pays the delivery charge belongs in the comparison too.

A useful working formula is: commission avoided minus direct-channel costs that replace it. Keep food cost separate unless the menu or portion changes. This stops a large commission figure from disguising an expensive delivery arrangement.

Can the website and app use your restaurant's domain?

Yes. Nexara generates a branded ordering site from your menu and takes theme colours from your uploaded logo. A custom domain is available from Starter. The free plan uses a Nexara subdomain and displays a Powered by Nexara badge.

The installable app is a progressive web app, or PWA. Customers install it from their browser, using your ordering site. It is not a separate app published in Apple's App Store or Google Play. Tell customers that plainly rather than sending them to search an app store.

The storefront supports Arabic and English. Menu products can have modifiers, such as extras, and availability can be controlled by branch. Checkout uses a phone one-time password, and customers can follow an order through a tracking link.

Your domain gives you an address to put on packaging and your restaurant's own social profiles. It does not bring visitors by itself. Keep the link visible wherever existing customers already look for your menu.

The restaurant ordering website guide covers the storefront. The installable app on your own domain guide explains what customers install.

Can customers pay with cash, CliQ or card?

The answer depends on where the order is placed. Website and app checkout support cash on delivery or pickup, plus online card payments through HyperPay when the restaurant enables them. CliQ is not a storefront checkout method today.

The call-center CliQ choice records the payment method; it should not be described as automatic payment matching. Call center is a Pro-plan feature. Before advertising a payment option, place a test order through the exact channel your customer will use.

Does direct ordering replace Talabat and Careem?

No. A direct channel can sit beside them. Aggregators can be the better route for customers who discover your restaurant inside their apps or prefer ordering there. Their commissions still apply to the orders they bring.

Nexara receives Talabat and Careem orders alongside website, app and phone orders in one live queue per branch. It is the order and operations layer beside the till, not a replacement cash register. Partner approval affects when aggregator connections can go live.

Direct delivery is a separate operational choice. Nexara supports dispatch through Careem Express, TopDeliver and Nashmi, and has a driver role for your own fleet. Delivery-provider access starts on Growth. Careem food-order intake and Careem Express dispatch serve different purposes.

The practical goal is to give returning customers a direct option without losing the demand aggregators bring. Review the Talabat and Careem order intake details when planning how those channels will share the kitchen queue.

How should you launch without disrupting service?

Begin with an order your team can follow from checkout to handover. The free plan supports 20 products and caps website plus QR orders at 30 a month. That is a testing allowance, not a busy branch's monthly capacity.

  1. Enter a workable menu. Check modifiers and branch availability against what the kitchen can actually prepare.
  2. Choose the domain and plan. Custom domains start on Starter; kitchen printing starts on Growth, and call center requires Pro.
  3. Test cash checkout and, if enabled, HyperPay card checkout. Check the customer's phone verification and tracking link.
  4. Follow the order on the branch board. If using printing, test an Arabic kitchen ticket with the Windows print agent and a supported ESC/POS thermal printer.
  5. Assign someone to watch direct orders during service. Add the ordering link to your own channels, then review channel reports alongside actual delivery and payment costs.

Plan for internet trouble before the rush. Orders can keep arriving in the cloud queue during a branch outage, but the board needs a connection. Printing catches up after reconnection. A phone hotspot beside the printer PC is a sensible backup.

What to remember

  • 0% commission applies to your own website, app and call center, not aggregator orders.
  • Calculate net benefit after software, payment and delivery costs.
  • Your branded site can use a custom domain and install as a browser-based app.
  • Cash and enabled HyperPay card payments work at storefront checkout; CliQ does not.
