How do I create a promotion in Nexara?
A promotion can look simple in the kitchen and still fail at checkout. If your website shows one price while the person taking phone orders quotes another, staff have to explain the difference during service.

Nexara gives you promotion types, promo codes and campaign analytics in a restaurant order and operations platform built in Amman, Jordan. Choose the offer, eligible items, timing and channels, then test the customer basket before publishing. Promotions start on Starter, while call-center ordering requires Pro.
Figures in this post are illustrative examples, not a client's actual results.
What should you decide before creating the offer?
Begin with the commercial rule. Nexara supports eleven promotion types: percentage discount, fixed amount, buy X get Y, free shipping, minimum order, loyalty points, new customer, happy hour, bulk discount, combo deal and platform exclusive.
Write a short campaign brief before setup. The table below shows the decisions to make, with example requirements rather than dashboard field names.
| Decision | Example requirement | Intended customer outcome |
|---|---|---|
| Type | Percentage discount | A reduced eligible item or order price |
| Items | Two burgers and one side | A clearly defined bundle |
| Window | Friday, 18:00 to 22:00 | An offer available during the advertised period |
| Branches | Abdoun branch | An offer for the intended location |
| Channel | Website and call center | Consistent terms online and over the phone |
| Redemption | Code or automatic | A clear way to receive the discount |
A combo with named products gives staff a specific basket to check. For the commercial thinking behind the offer, read promotions that pay and the promotions ROI playbook.
How do you choose the promotion type and eligible items?
- Match the offer to a supported promotion type. Percentage discount and fixed amount cover direct reductions; combo deal describes a defined group of products.
- Write down the products that should qualify. Review their modifiers and branch availability so staff can supply the advertised meal.
- Describe the qualifying condition in plain words. A minimum-order offer needs a clear spending requirement; a bulk-discount offer needs a clear quantity requirement.
- Calculate the expected total for a normal basket before testing it. Staff need a reference price for the configured campaign.
Nexara includes a campaign composer, calendar, segments and autopilot rules. Start with a sentence a customer can understand. If the person taking phone orders cannot explain who qualifies, tighten the offer before preparing its promo card.
Nexara uses one catalogue across its ordering channels, with menu-channel controls and per-branch availability. Check the base menu before adding an offer. If prices or modifiers need attention first, follow how to build your menu once.
Where and when should the offer run?
Nexara's promotions include a calendar, and happy hour is a supported campaign type. Specify the start and end time, plus the days and hours if the offer repeats.

List the participating branches and intended channels alongside the dates. Nexara's own channels include the branded website, installable web app, call center and QR dine-in ordering. QR dine-in starts on Growth and requires dine-in to be enabled at the branch.
Promotions start on Starter and are off on Free. Call-center ordering requires Pro, so a website-and-phone campaign needs the plan that includes phone ordering. Nexara has a free plan and paid plans per branch in Jordanian dinar; current rates are available on request.
Should customers enter a code or receive the offer automatically?
Nexara includes promo codes in Discounts & Promocodes. A named code gives customers something specific to quote from a social post or flyer. For an automatic offer, define the basket that should receive the reduction without customer input.
- Code-based offer: write the exact code and customer-facing terms in the campaign brief.
- Automatic offer: describe which basket should receive the reduction without customer input.
- Platform-exclusive offer: name the intended ordering channel so the setup and test cover it.
- New-customer offer: define how eligibility will be checked before staff advertise it.
The call center identifies callers by phone number and shows saved addresses and past orders. That gives the agent context while taking the order. The cashier can review the day's net sale at close for reconciliation beside Nexara's order and operations layer.
How should you test a promotion before publishing?
Turn the campaign requirements into acceptance checks. Nexara provides promo cards with generated images, but test the customer-facing price before distributing the card.
- Build a basket containing eligible products. Compare its discount and final total with your reference calculation.
- Add an ineligible product. Check that the campaign follows the agreed eligibility rule.
- For a minimum-order or quantity-based offer, test baskets below and above the threshold.
- Check behaviour around the start and end time.
- Test each participating branch and an excluded branch if exclusion is part of the brief.
- Complete the order on the website, then have a call-center agent test the same offer.
- Check the final total, delivery charge and printed ticket.
Website and phone orders arrive on the same live order board as the restaurant's other channels. Kitchen tickets print in Arabic on standard ESC/POS thermal printers rather than appearing on kitchen display screens. Printing starts on Growth.
Keep a written record of any mismatch between the expected and actual basket. The founder handles assisted setup in Arabic or English during Amman hours. Resolve price differences before staff quote the offer during service.
How do you measure whether the promotion paid?
Use Nexara's campaign analytics alongside report tabs across orders, products, customers, channels, delivery, money and operations. Compare equivalent periods for the same branch and channels. Record discount cost separately from gross sales so a larger order count does not hide a smaller return.
| Measure | Before offer | With offer |
|---|---|---|
| Orders in campaign window | 80 | 104 |
| Average basket before discount | 8.00 JOD | 8.40 JOD |
| Discount per order | 0.00 JOD | 1.20 JOD |
| Gross sales | 640 JOD | 873.60 JOD |
| Discount cost | 0 JOD | 124.80 JOD |
| Sales after discount | 640 JOD | 748.80 JOD |
The calculation is 104 orders multiplied by 8.40 JOD, minus 104 discounts of 1.20 JOD. Sales after discount rise from 640 JOD to 748.80 JOD, an increase of 108.80 JOD, or 17%. Food, delivery, labour and other costs still need to be deducted to assess the campaign's contribution.
Review results after the campaign ends as well as while it runs. Check cancellations and product mix, then use customer records and order history to examine repeat ordering. Compare similar service periods because a busy holiday and an ordinary weekday give you different starting points.
