How to take a phone order in Nexara in under two minutes

A regular caller rings during dinner rush. They want three items, and the kitchen needs the ticket printing before the next ring.

How to take a phone order in Nexara in under two minutes

Nexara lets an agent look up a caller’s saved addresses and past orders, then record items, modifiers, payment and branch in a restaurant order and operations platform built in Amman, Jordan. The confirmed order reaches the live board and kitchen printer. Call Center is a Pro-plan feature. Ask the founder on WhatsApp for assisted setup.

Figures in this post are illustrative examples, not a client's actual results.

What happens from the ring to the ticket?

The agent starts with the caller's phone number. Nexara searches the restaurant's customer records and shows saved addresses and past orders. The agent chooses the correct address, adds the requested products and modifiers, selects the payment choice, assigns the branch and confirms the order.

The call-center order moves from caller lookup to branch confirmation and kitchen printing.
The call-center order moves from caller lookup to branch confirmation and kitchen printing.

After confirmation, the order joins the branch's live order queue. The ticket prints on the configured kitchen printer. Nexara is the order and operations layer beside the till, so the cashier can continue using the restaurant's till and record the day's net sale for reconciliation.

How do you find the caller quickly?

Start with the caller's number, then confirm the record before adding food. This gives the agent a clear sequence to follow:

  1. Type the caller's phone number into the Call Center screen.
  2. Review the matching customer record, including saved addresses and past orders.
  3. Choose the delivery address the caller confirms. If the caller has more than one saved address, read back the selected address before continuing.
  4. Check the customer details before adding the order.

The number lookup is useful when a regular customer calls from a familiar number. The record belongs to the restaurant and includes addresses and order history. Nexara also supports blacklist records, which the restaurant can manage for customer handling.

How do you add items and modifiers?

  1. Add the products the caller requests from the restaurant menu.
  2. Add the required modifiers and extras attached to the selected product.
  3. Repeat the item names, quantities and modifiers to the caller.
  4. Check availability and the order summary before payment selection.

Nexara uses one menu catalogue across its ordering channels. Products, categories, modifiers and modifier groups are part of that catalogue, with availability managed by branch. The agent sees the current menu used by the restaurant's other ordering channels.

Say the product, quantity, modifier and relevant instruction while checking the order summary. This gives the kitchen the details it needs on the ticket.

Which payment choices can a phone order use?

ChoiceHow it is recordedWhen to use it
CashCashThe customer pays on delivery or collection.
CardCardThe customer chooses card payment for the phone order.
CliQ linkStored as onlineThe restaurant sends a payment link for the phone order where this is enabled.

The phone-order screen includes cash, card and a CliQ option stored as online. Phone orders can use payment links. The founder can help configure the relevant account workflow on WhatsApp. CliQ is not a storefront checkout method.

For a full explanation of cash, card and CliQ handling, see the phone-order payment guide.

How does the order reach the correct branch and kitchen?

  1. Confirm the delivery or pickup location with the caller.
  2. Assign the order to the branch that should prepare it.
  3. Read back the branch, order type, items, modifiers, total and payment choice.
  4. Confirm the order once the caller agrees.
  5. Watch the live order board for the branch and kitchen ticket.

Nexara supports delivery, pickup and dine-in order types. Every order from the call center, website, app, table QR, Careem and Talabat arrives in one live queue per branch. The phone order follows the same operational path as the restaurant's other incoming channels.

Tickets print in Arabic on ordinary ESC/POS thermal printers, with English available on the same ticket. If a printer stops responding, the order remains on the board and the ticket waits in a queue. Staff can re-route that printer's categories from the dashboard, or use a configured backup printer where one is available.

A year went into the printing engine alone. It works with standard ESC/POS printers connected over USB or network through the branch print agent.

How long should a phone order take?

StepIllustrative time
Number lookup and address15 to 25 seconds
Items and modifiers35 to 55 seconds
Payment and branch15 to 25 seconds
Repeat-back and confirmation20 to 35 seconds
Total before printingAbout 85 to 140 seconds

This illustrative scenario covers a known caller, one saved address and a short order. A new address, extra modifiers or a payment-link issue adds time. The ticket prints after confirmation.

Call Center is a Pro-plan feature. Nexara also has a free plan and paid plans per branch in Jordanian dinar. Current rates are available on request.

How should you prepare the branch before taking calls?

  • Manager: keep the branch menu, prices, modifiers and availability current.
  • Manager: connect a standard ESC/POS thermal printer for the kitchen through the branch print agent.
  • Branch manager: confirm which branch prepares each delivery and pickup area.
  • Manager and cashier: decide how the team handles cash, card and phone-order payment links.
  • Call-center agent: practise checking the address, items, modifiers, payment choice and branch before confirmation.
  • Call-center agent and cashier: run a test call before the first busy service.

The Nexara order and operations features page covers the wider platform. The printing and integrations overview explains the channels and printer capabilities. Nexara support is available in Arabic and English during Amman hours, and the founder answers through the WhatsApp setup conversation at nexaratech.io.
