What does a food truck actually need?

Start with the order path, not a large equipment list. A working setup reads like this: a phone or tablet, a mobile hotspot, a QR code, an ordering page, one standard ESC/POS thermal printer and the till you already use for payment and end-of-day cash handling.

• A clear menu with prices, modifiers and item availability.
• A QR code fixed to the truck, counter or queue barrier.
• An ordering link for customers who prefer their own phone.
• A printer that produces Arabic and English kitchen tickets.
• A backup connection, usually a phone hotspot next to the printer computer.
• A simple way to see phone, website, QR, Talabat and Careem orders together.

How should orders reach the truck?

Nexara gives the truck one branch order board for website, installable app, phone, table QR, Talabat and Careem orders. Staff can work from the order details and the printed preparation ticket instead of copying platform orders into another screen.

The QR code sits where a customer can scan it before reaching the service window. The customer's phone opens your branded menu, where they select items, modifiers and pickup details. The order then appears on the board and prints for preparation.

What printer works in a food truck?

Use an ordinary ESC/POS thermal printer over USB or a local network. Epson, Star and Bixolon are examples of supported printer brands. Nexara's printing work includes Arabic rendering, so Arabic item names and modifiers can appear on the ticket, with English on the same ticket when needed.

A year went into Nexara's printing engine. Tickets queue and print once, never twice, never lost. If a printer stops answering, the order remains on the board and in the queue. You can re-route that printer's categories from the dashboard, or use automatic failover to a configured backup printer.

A small truck may use one printer for all preparation categories. A larger mobile operation could route selected categories to separate printers, but that adds hardware and setup. One printer, one paper size and a tested ticket layout are enough for many first events.

Read how to handle an internet outage before the first event. Orders continue arriving in the cloud queue while the connection is down, and the printer catches up when it returns. The board itself needs a connection, so a phone hotspot is the sensible backup. There is no offline cash register.

What does a food truck not need?

A food truck needs a short order path, readable tickets and control over its menu. A fixed-site restaurant package may include equipment and functions that do not fit a mobile counter.

How much does this setup cost?

What should you test before opening?

1. Create the menu with every modifier, price and unavailable item you expect to use.
2. Scan the QR code using a customer's phone, not only the device used by staff.
3. Place a test pickup order and confirm that the ticket contains the order number and selected modifiers.
4. Disconnect the hotspot briefly and check that staff know the board requires reconnection.
5. Turn off the printer and confirm that staff can see the order and re-route its categories.
6. Run one Arabic ticket and one bilingual ticket through the actual paper and printer.
7. Confirm who records the final sale and reconciles cash at close.
