Restaurant daily report in five minutes: what to look at first?

A daily report is useful only if it changes what you do before the next service. The reading order matters: a popular item can draw your attention while a cash gap or rising cancellations waits underneath.

Restaurant daily report in five minutes: what to look at first?

Nexara is a restaurant order and operations platform built in Amman, Jordan, with live deployments in Jordan. It gives owners daily report views across channels, branches, products, money and complaints. Start with revenue by channel, then branch performance, cancellations, top items, cashier reconciliation and complaints. The cashier records the day’s net sale at the till; Nexara provides the reconciliation view beside it.

Figures in this post are illustrative examples, not a client's actual results.

What should you check first?

Use the same order every day. The purpose is to spot a decision before the numbers become a weekly problem. Nexara’s report tabs cover orders, products, customers, channels, delivery, money and operations. Start with demand, then check branch control and customer recovery.

  1. Revenue and order count by channel.
  2. Branch performance and unusual differences.
  3. Cancellations and failed orders.
  4. Top products and product changes.
  5. Cashier reconciliation and the day’s net sale.
  6. Customer reviews, feedback calls and complaint cases.
This is the five-minute reading path from demand to branch control and customer recovery.
This is the five-minute reading path from demand to branch control and customer recovery.

1. Where did the orders and revenue come from?

Begin with the Channels report. Compare order count and revenue from the call center, branded website or app, table QR, Talabat and Careem. The question is simple: did customers buy through the channels you expected, and did one channel carry an unusual share of the day?

ChannelIllustrative ordersIllustrative revenue
Own website and app34286 JOD
Call center21178 JOD
Talabat28247 JOD
Careem17151 JOD
Table QR16132 JOD

In this example, own channels produced 464 JOD from 55 orders. Nexara charges 0% commission on the restaurant’s own website, app and call center orders. Talabat and Careem keep their own commissions on the orders they bring. Use the channel split to decide where a menu, offer or ordering link needs attention.

If you need a deeper explanation of the available reports, read restaurant reports that matter.

2. Which branch needs a closer look?

Next, read the Product by Branch and branch performance views separately. Compare the relevant orders, revenue, cancellations or top products across branches for the same date range. A branch with lower revenue is not automatically weaker. It may have fewer opening hours, fewer tables or a different channel mix.

BranchIllustrative ordersIllustrative revenueFirst check
Branch A52438 JODCancellations
Branch B37318 JODTop items
Branch C27238 JODChannel mix

Look for a difference that can be explained by an operating fact. A branch with many website orders but few completed orders may need an order-handling check. A branch with strong order count but weak revenue may have a smaller basket or more discounted orders. Keep the comparison to the same date and trading hours.

Nexara supports branch-specific menus and availability, so an item can be available in one branch and unavailable in another. If your branch setup or report view needs help, use the founder’s assisted setup on WhatsApp rather than guessing at a setting.

3. What was cancelled or failed?

Open cancellations and failed orders before checking popular products. A cancelled order is a lost sale and a possible customer complaint. Start with the status, then check the recorded channel or branch and the reason where available. Separate customer cancellations from operational failures, such as an unavailable item or an order that was not accepted.

  • Check whether cancellations cluster in one branch.
  • Check whether one channel contributes most of them.
  • Check whether the cancelled item also appears among top products.
  • Check open complaint cases linked to delivered orders.

The Live Orders area keeps order history with search and filters. Nexara also has Failed Orders and Complaints report tabs. That gives the manager a route from a daily number to the order record and then to the case that needs follow-up.

4. Which products shaped the day?

Read top products after cancellations. Start with units sold, then compare the product by branch and channel. A product can be popular on Talabat but weak on the restaurant’s own website. Another can sell well in one branch because its availability, price or menu placement differs.

Loaded fries22110 JODWhich channel sold it?

Do not change a price because of one busy day. Check the product’s branch availability, modifiers and cancellations first. Nexara lets the restaurant update its catalogue and branch availability for the channels it serves.

If you want the raw order rows for your own review, Nexara supports CSV export of orders and customers. See how to export orders to CSV for that workflow.

5. Does the cash record match the day?

Cash reconciliation comes after sales and cancellations because you need the trading context first. Compare the cashier’s recorded net sale with the cash and payment information for the day. Investigate the difference before closing the shift, while the people and receipts are still available.

  • Confirm the report date and branch.
  • Check the day’s net sale recorded by the cashier.
  • Separate cash, card and other recorded payment methods.
  • Record the difference and ask the branch manager for the reason.
  • Keep the reconciliation with the day’s operational record.

Nexara is the order and operations layer beside the till. It provides cashier reconciliation and financial report views, while the cashier completes the branch’s close procedure. If a setting or payment workflow is unclear, ask for the founder’s assisted setup on WhatsApp.

6. What needs a customer call today?

Finish with Customer Reviews, Feedback Calls and Complaints. A complaint case can have a status such as open, breached, escalated or resolved. Look at open cases first, then cases whose SLA clock has been breached, then repeated complaints about the same item or branch.

Nexara populates feedback-call tasks from delivered orders and keeps complaint cases with routing, SLA minutes, escalation and photos. The owner can then call the customer, assign the case or check the branch process.

How can you make the five minutes repeatable?

Use the same date range, branch order and questions every day. Do not compare a partial lunch service with a full trading day. Write one action beside any number that moved sharply, then check whether the action was completed at the next close.

  1. Open the daily report after the branch has closed.
  2. Read channel revenue and order count.
  3. Compare branches using the same trading period.
  4. Open cancellations and failed orders.
  5. Check top products and availability.
  6. Complete cashier reconciliation.
  7. Assign or call through open complaints.

Every step above describes current Nexara report behaviour. Where a setting is not covered in the facts for your account, WhatsApp the founder in Amman for assisted setup. Nexara support is available in Arabic and English during Amman hours, and the founder answers. Start at nexaratech.io or send the WhatsApp message below.

What to remember

  • Read channel revenue before product popularity.
  • Compare branches using the same date and trading hours.
  • Check cancellations before deciding what to promote.
  • Reconcile the cashier’s net sale before closing the day.
  • End with one customer or complaint action.
