Careem POS integration: one queue, one kitchen printer
When a Careem order is waiting to be copied, the cook needs a ticket, not another screen to check.

Nexara brings Careem orders into one branch queue without retyping and prints Arabic kitchen tickets. This restaurant order and operations platform is built in Amman, Jordan. Careem activation requires partner approval; start with a WhatsApp conversation to confirm your branch’s status and arrange an order-to-printer test.
What does Careem POS integration actually connect?
Careem integration connects food orders placed through Careem to the restaurant’s order board and kitchen printing. Staff receive the order directly rather than copying its items and modifiers from a separate device.
Nexara places those orders on Live Orders, its branch-level order board. The same queue receives Talabat, phone, website, installable app and table QR orders when those channels are enabled. Open dashboard screens update as orders change. Table QR starts on Growth, while the call center is a Pro-plan feature.
Nexara is the order and operations layer beside the till. The cashier records the day’s net sale at close in Cashier Reconciliation, which covers net sales and cash reconciliation. For that closing procedure, see the Nexara feature catalogue.
Careem food-order intake receives orders from the marketplace; Careem Express dispatch books delivery for your own orders. The Talabat and Careem order intake guide explains how marketplace orders fit into the shared queue.
How does a Careem order reach the kitchen?
A Careem food order enters the branch queue and follows the configured kitchen ticket routing. Nexara supports optional auto-accept, so incoming orders can be accepted without a separate manual acceptance step. Status updates and driver information also reach the order.
Replacements and cancellations need attention during service. Nexara processes those incoming changes, while scheduled orders print when due. If the cook has started preparing the original ticket, the person watching the board should tell them which item changed or which order was cancelled.
| Careem event or action | What Nexara supports | What it means during service |
|---|---|---|
| New food order | Receives the order into the branch queue; supports optional auto-accept | The branch receives the order without copying it from another device |
| Status or driver update | Applies order status and driver information | Staff can follow the current order state |
| Item replacement or cancellation | Processes replacement information and incoming cancellations | The person watching orders can alert the cook to a change |
| Scheduled order | Prints scheduled orders when due | The kitchen receives its ticket at the scheduled printing time |
| Prepared order | Supports marking prepared orders ready | Staff can record that preparation is complete |
Talabat and Careem both feed Nexara’s branch queue. Set up the connections for the marketplace accounts your restaurant uses. Talabat supports order intake, incoming cancellations, status updates and catalogue updates; the Talabat order integration guide explains its catalogue and outlet setup.
Can Careem orders use the same Arabic kitchen printer?
Yes. Nexara can route Careem and other connected channels to one shared kitchen printer. Categories determine which items print at each station, so a larger kitchen can separate tickets across printers. Templates are assigned per printer, with backup printers available where configured.
Nexara Printing works with standard ESC/POS thermal printers over USB or network through the Windows print agent. Confirm your printer model and whether it connects by USB or network before setup, so the order-to-printer test uses the equipment your kitchen will run during service.
Arabic item names and modifiers print on ordinary thermal printers, with English available on the same ticket. Check a printed order containing extras before accepting the setup: the cook should be able to read the item and its changes at the station where it is prepared. Category routing determines which station receives each item.
What happens when the internet or printer fails?
Orders keep arriving in the cloud queue while the branch connection is down. Pending tickets print when the connection returns; the live order board itself needs internet access. A phone hotspot beside the printer computer provides a practical backup connection.
A ticket won’t print twice on the same printer, and staff can still request a deliberate reprint. When a printer stops answering, the order stays on the board and its ticket waits in the print queue.
Staff can re-route that printer’s categories from the dashboard. Automatic printer failover is available when a backup printer is configured. During the recovery test, have the cashier collect the ticket from the backup station and check that the affected categories reached it.
The printing and connection FAQ explains recovery. First locate the waiting ticket, then restore the printer or re-route its categories. Check the resulting printout before requesting a deliberate extra copy, so the kitchen knows which ticket to prepare.
Can you update the Careem menu and dispatch drivers?
For Careem food-order intake, Nexara supports pushing the catalogue, working hours and availability, plus pausing the store. Its menu tools include modifiers and per-branch availability. That branch-level control matters when one kitchen has sold out of an item that another still has.
Availability controls handle individual items; pausing the store handles a kitchen that needs to stop accepting orders. Have the shift lead check the affected item on Careem after changing availability, then restore it when the kitchen can prepare it again.
For Careem Express, Nexara supports estimates, distance checks, booking, tracking and cancellation. It also supports TopDeliver and Nashmi dispatch, with a driver role for your own fleet. Practise own-channel delivery separately from the marketplace intake test; the own-driver and courier dispatch guide covers that choice.
What should you verify before switching on Careem intake?
Nexara’s ordering link can be available the day you sign up, and a printer usually connects the same day. For Careem, run a branch acceptance test with the cashier and the person collecting kitchen tickets. Use the branch’s actual printer and catalogue for these checks:
- Confirm Careem approval for the intended branch and whether auto-accept will be enabled.
- Review the catalogue, extras and working hours. Test item availability and store pause on Careem, then restore the intended settings.
- Send an incoming order with Arabic modifiers and items from different categories. Compare the board with each station’s ticket, find status and driver information, and mark the prepared order ready.
- Test an item replacement and a cancellation. Have the cashier identify the change and tell the cook what to stop or replace.
- Test a scheduled order and confirm that its ticket prints when due.
- Disconnect the printer during a test order and locate the waiting ticket. Restore it and check the printout. Where a backup exists, test category re-routing; finish by checking a deliberate reprint.
Nexara has a free plan plus paid plans per branch in JOD, with current rates on request. Confirm the plan needed for printing and your enabled channels. Careem keeps its own commission on orders it brings; Nexara charges zero commission on your own website, app and call-center orders.
